Wow. This event is really coming together now. I thought about it and decided there might be a lot of folks who think like I do and might want to arrive early and get the celebration going. Even though the festival officially starts on Thursday, I thought I'd get there on Monday to relax and have have some fun. I will setup a big screen and show some videos I've taped here at Bean over the past several years. I also have a nice collection of Hartford videos and many others we could watch to get ourselves in the mood. I thought if enough people showed up early we could have some pickin' parties and maybe I could talk Jim Peva (a Bean Blossom fixture) into makin' a big kettle of chili or beans we could all share. We could all kick in a couple bucks. He hangs a kettle over a fire pit and slow cooks it. Can anyone make cornbread. I'm thinking we can use one of the stages or just make a big circle for some story tellin' and jammin'.

We have some great bands confirmed now that I'll list here. Tim O'Brien, Danny Barnes, Larry Keel, Jamie Hartford, Chatham County Line, Missouri Boatride with Dean Webb (a Darlin' boy from the Andy Griffith Show), Rodney Dillard (also a Darlin' boy) and the Dillard Band, Bawn In The Mash, Hillbenders, Midnight From Memphis, Branded Bluegrass, Great American Taxi, Greensky Bluegrass, Dry Valley Gamblers, The Mississippi Sawyers & Rumpke Mountain Boys. Although we have a super lineup already, we aren't stopping.

This is coming from a seasoned Bean Blossom festival attendee. I suggest you reserve a campsite when you purchase your tickets. There are a limited amount of sites with water and electric. These sites can accommodate RVs, campers, & trailers or tents. Since I always have a lot of camera & computer equipment with me, even though I camped in a tent, I reserved a campsite with electric. There will be plenty of campsites without electric, but I wanted to give you a heads up about the reserved sites because they tend to go fast. I'm sure the person taking your reservation can suggest areas to your liking, such as woods or open areas. You will also find a pretty detailed campground map on the Bean Blossom website. They have great facilities, including showers & bathrooms with flush toilets. No matter where you camp, you won't be that far from the stage. You can also rent golf carts.

" This event is not about making money but to give John’s fans, friends, and peers, a chance to see John again through the music and stories that many performers, family and friends will play and tell. The ticket sales profit from this festival will be donated to a cancer organization. "
