The Flea Market Hustlers
The Flea Market Hustlers bring it... every time. Sometimes it's an infectious groove with a deep pocket, other times it's a manic bluegrass meditation on spirituality and beer, but all of the time it's a unique celebration.
The Hustlers are a collection of Nashville area musicians and friends who came together as a side project to have fun playing bluegrass. With a weekly gig at the famous Millers Grocery, the Hustlers honed their skills and cultivated their unique approach to bluegrass. As the band continued to evolve, more influences from the members outside interests began to blend into the music. Soon the Hustlers took their musical menagerie of drums, electric guitars, and acoustic instruments to the local and regional club scene where they continue to play to enthusiastic crowds.
2014 has been an exciting year for the Hustlers. With their studio release "Last Man Standing" the band was invited to appear on two nationally syndicated TV shows. While recording the "Sun Studio Sessions" show in Memphis, the boys took the opportunity to record in those hallowed walls. That studio LP, "Cover Your Ears," will be out in 2015 as the television show airs. The "Jammin' At Hippie Jack's" show is currently airing and a live CD of the full performance is now available.
Have bus, will travel! Festivals have become the favorite venue for the Hustlers and their fans alike. As a group of wily musicians and pranksters who love to play, the Hustlers enjoy taking advantage of having a full weekend to perform their energetic original stage show as well as consorting with other musicians and friends. The band is a fixture of Jammin' at Hippie Jack's Americana Music Festival where the Hustlers' stage sets and late-night open jamboree have become a highlight of the festival. The Head Jamz music festival took advantage of the Hustlers' propensity for jamming all night with their extensive repertoire of bluegrass standards, unconventional covers, and an ever-expanding catalog of original tunes, giving them the last set of the evening where the band played to a buoyant crowd until dawn. The Hustler's have played events with The Steeldrivers, Donna the Buffalo, Cornmeal, Darrell Scott, Tim O'Brien, The Emmitt-Nershi Band and The Traveling McCoury's, just to name a few.
Expect to be Hustled soon, as the band plans to bring it to you... and your mama!
