The Whipstitch Sallies

The Whipstitch Sallies are central Indiana “bluegrass rockers with panache” (The Indianapolis paper NUVO) with electrifying presence, traditional instruments, and tight harmonies. Allie drives rhythm on open-back banjo and guitar while Sam’s blistering mandolin licks and Katie’s spirited fiddle leads kick up an exuberant racket rooted in mountain music but informed by bluegrass, blues, and indie rock. Listen for the energy and fun of “Oh Mercy”, the adventurous spirit of “Piney Flats”, the unusual arrangement of “Rain and Snow”, and the old-time punk of “Endless in the Lowlands”. The Whipstitch Sallies are annual crowd favorites at the John Hartford Memorial Festival.
